Katherine became President of Lone Star College-Kingwood in August 2008. She moved back to Texas after serving as the President of the Rock Creek Campus of Portland Community College in Oregon. Prior to that she worked at Lone Star College-Kingwood from 1984-2006 in a variety of positions including Vice President of Educational Programs and Student Development, Associate Dean of Science, Health Care and Applied Technology and as Biology professor. In fact, she is a founding faculty member for LSC-Kingwood. Dr. Persson received her Ph.D. in Educational Administration (Community College Leadership) from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.S. in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) from Texas Women’s’ University, Texas Medical Center, Houston and a B.S. in Biology from Southwest Texas University. Katherine has served on numerous community boards, including both the East Montgomery Chamber and Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce. She was an elected trustee to the Splendora ISD board for 16 years and is currently an elected director of the East Montgomery County Improvement District. While Katherine has been recognized for numerous awards, she is most proud of being the wife of Andrew, mother of Earin, Brian, and Torin, and grandmother to Drew and Tori Kay.
